My name is Keith Meyers, and I am an economist with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in Washington, DC. Previously I was an assistant professor at the University of Southern Denmark. My research interests relate to the intersection of the environment, health, and economic history. I study how external factors such as the disease environment or pollution can affect welfare and human flourishing.

In 2018 I completed my dissertation in economics at the University of Arizona. In this work, I analyze how atmospheric nuclear testing conducted in Nevada affect health, agriculture, and economic development in continental United States. In January 2021, I became a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow under “Valvax: Evaluating the Long-Run Socioeconomic Effects of Childhood Vaccination” project #890475. This project investigates both the short-run and long-run socioeconomic effects of the Salk polio vaccine trials conducted in 1954.

My work has been referenced in media outlets such as The Washington Post, Mother Jones, Quartz, and Vox’s Weeds podcast.
